as otherwise, I may be forced to sell him!!!

question number one.....

why are they only girls and boys in the world??

Now, I said that there are more than just girls and bos, there are lions and tigers and elephants and mummies and daddies etc etc.

nope, says he, all these are animals and they are still all just girls and boys. why is there something that is not a girl or a boy???

.....my boy, the philosiphor(sp?)???

question number two......

who got the first headlice and how??

now, this comes after lots of nit combing this year. I comb them after each and every bath....whether they have them or not....as it keeps them at bay I find (well, of sorts!)....he asked why after the bath tonight and I told him (why I comb him that is).....he has been wondering since then who it was that got the first nits and why they let them live on their head, and why they shared them, as it is rude to share nits.

please help me satisfy his unending need for pointless knowledge.

Hehehe!!

Keep on answering him, he will never give up otherwise!

Get him a "my first encyclopaedia" (one with lots of pictures) and let him find out answers for himself.

Blandmum · 31/07/2008 21:37

to head him off at the pass, btw, elephants have big ears......

....because Noddy wouldn't pay the ransom!

Actually to help with heat loss! All animals in hotter climates have bigger ears than their temperate 'cousins'

psychomum5 · 31/07/2008 21:38

MB, do you tell your children these answers when they ask these Q's???

i need the finger in girly bits answer I mumbled and ran for toast - babies we have done on and off, but fingers???????

Blandmum · 31/07/2008 21:40

Yes.

DD now says, 'I didn't want to know that much'

She and ds have banned me from enthusing about sand dune formation and different types of rocks while on holiday......

psychomum5 · 31/07/2008 21:41

gently......I would answer if I could but I have only dealt with why keys should not be placed in or near girlie bits....

and all I answered for that was that keys were for opening doors only and she never asked again (or tried). seemed she was my easy one.....

@ MB.

When dd gets older and starts asking questions, I'm going to hunt you down MB! Be warned you are my future encyclopedia

psychomum5 · 31/07/2008 21:43

so.......going on that MB, the way to ensure they never ask questions is to overload their minds until they implode and they then learn that bedtime means just that.

MB - you're GREAT!

GentlyWorryTheAnimal · 31/07/2008 21:47

ewwwww @ keys

zwiggy · 31/07/2008 21:51

can you ask him what else there should be other than girls and boys?

ladytophamhatt · 31/07/2008 21:58

MB knows everything about everything, Although maybe not maths, she has to count on her fingers apparently...not that I believe that

I wish you were my mum MB

GentlyWorryTheAnimal · 31/07/2008 22:00

MB helped me with maths earlier too

Blandmum · 31/07/2008 22:06

yes. I bollocked up the maths

can't do maths. Can't draw to save my life and my spelling is dreadful.

But science I can do, well biology I can do!

psychomum5 · 31/07/2008 22:08

in that case MB, can you please explain why men seem to be born unable to aim straight while weeing, and why they feel the need to stand up and spray everywhere when I have just cleaned the loo...

please

GentlyWorryTheAnimal · 31/07/2008 22:14

I didn't remember that you messed up the maths

My question was misleading though it seems!

psychomum5 · 31/07/2008 22:15

what about amoeba's?
i don't think they are one or the other.

DontNeedAnything · 31/07/2008 22:36

No single celled organisms are all uni-sex as are plants

LOL at LTH.

The best compliment I ever had was passed on to me by the mother of one of DD's classmates - apparently she said "Mummy I do love you, but sometimes I wish I could have minisquiggle's Mummy as well"

I was for days at that one!

Blandmum · 31/07/2008 22:51

Amoeba reproduce without sex. they replicate their DNA, divide it up and then the cells splits in two.

Not all plants reproduce without sex. Some do, making clones of themselves. Spider plants and strawberries to this when they send off shoots.

Most plants also use sexual reproduction. Flowers are pants sex organs. They have ovules which are akin to eggs and pollen is akin to sperm.

Some plants have either female flowers or male (holly trees for example) Some have both male and female parts. These can self pollinate or be polinated by other flowers.

the more complex the organism the more it tends to depend of sexual reproduction. Sexual reproduction introduces variation in the offspring. Asexual reproduction produces clones.

(BTW the plant thing is more complex, with diploid and haploid generations)

Blandmum · 31/07/2008 22:51

plants' sex organs....not pants! FFS!
