So, I've persuaded DP to read some books..

on parenting a three year old boy.

I could just tell him what I think he should do cos I'm a great parent but I think if he takes it from a book then he'll be more likely to think about it rather than just think it's me being a 'hippy'.

I want ones that explain what DS is thinking, and why he does what he does rather than hardline, naughty step type books.

My parenting method is to distract/ignore/understand/question, so I don't want anything too harsh, but I know DP would laugh out loud at something like Alfie Kohn.

What books do you recommend?

Hmm, I was going to say unconditional Parenting, so am a bit stumped now.

How to talk simialr imo, and also most of the examples are of older kids.

Well done for persuading him, though! Maybe look on amazon at the people who bought this also bought...." section?

Raising our children, raising ourselves is a really lovely book and gives lots of practical in applying its ideas help too.
