Did you send your child to their room today?

DS1 was sent upstairs for punching DS2.

The girl who lives in the house behind us was threatened with bed for weeing in the garden. The boy on one side was threated with being sent to his for bullying and hitting his brother. The boy on the other side was threatened with being sent to his room for throwing stones in the garden.

Whats going on?

No, but I left DS2 at home with DP instead of going to my mother's for lunch, and to see my brother who is Good Fun. Took DS1 with me.

IMO, it's a combo of

End-of-term-itis
Hot weather
Grumpy parent (me)

Yes i sent dd1 to her room at lunchtime as she got very stroppy over something i said as a joke and came at me karate kicking(very angry) like bloody Kung Fu Panda.

Yes, I sent him for being obnoxious.

50 years ago, no child was sent to his room, except after a smacked bottom, and then it was for the rest of the day.

unless your childs room is a cell with no toys i dont see the point unless its just to get them away from you because you are about to snap. mine dont see it as a punishment at all

Yes. dd2 because she called me a Loser I also banned her off the trampoline for the night.

No, though dd2 took herself for a tantrum when FIL wouldn't let her climb up the loft ladder with him!

They've been lovely and quiet today.

That's why the house looks like a frigging bomb site

DS1 was, three times....for spitting

DH sent DD1 to her room for a misdemeanor and I crossed something off the 'Holiday List' for another.

My 'Holiday List' is brilliant and I wish I'd thought of it before because the first week of any school holiday is always challening! It's an A4 sheet pinned in the kitchen with columns of days out ie. picnic, seaside, swimming, castle, park. When one of the DCs is horrible, something gets crossed off. But they can earn it back by being good or helpful etc. They lost 6 outings on the first day of the holidays but have earned them all back! Obviously I don't put things like 'visit grandma' on the list because we'll go however foul their behaviour.

yes all of mine have gone to thier room at somepoint today except for dd2

ds for having a huge tantrum and kicking the wall in anger. he is 8

dsd1 for punching her sister, dsd2 sent into another room for retaliating.

dsd1 went again for slapping dd2 accross the face (who is 14 months old) dsd is 5 next week.

and my dd1 went to her room for being an obnoxious little boasting brat to her step sisters she is 6 next week also.

Its been such a horrible, shitty, swearing, shouty awful day

DS - 2 or possibly 3 times - for 'attitude' of various kinds - he is 5 going on 13 and it is driving us nuts.

TBH if (a) DD was older and (b) her room was toddler-safe she would have gone too - we had a 45min showdown to get her to say 'sorry' to DS for kicking him

yes dd1 got sent to her room this morning after a hellish night sharing our bed with her she started bouncing on the bed while i was suffering bad back pain

she went downstiars instead and told dh "mummy needs a coffee before she will get up she is very grumpy this morning"

Yes DTD1 was sent to her bed today for generally not following instructions culminating in her writing a note saying "mummy is stupid". Hence she went to her bed.

I nearly sent dd back to bed as soon as she got up - she has been grumpy for the last three days. She and ds2 have been arguing over what they are arguing about, everything is 'I did it first' or 'ds hurted me...' Still, tommorow is another day...help!
