How do I broach the subject of Stranger Danger to dd1? She is 10.
She has had no need to play out as none of her mate live round here so she isnt picking this up as she goes along.
She is however being sent on errands, and is happy to go off 5-10 mins in advance of us with us trundling behind..
What do I say without frightening the crap out of her???

charliecat · 27/07/2008 14:04

I read in the newspaper over the weekend that there were 11.6 million under 16s in 2002 and only, only 68 abductions by strangers.

even 1 is too many for the parents and the child that has been abducted.Your film has been posted so maybe tomorrow for you.It is one in a series of ten,the others include.electrical dangers ,water, traffic, railway lines and all things like that. They are being distributed to schools and they hope to go nationwide with them.Although the film is only short i can tell you it took all day to make it.I know because my dh went with her.he reckons he has a part in it,but he is offscreen !!!!

charliecat · 27/07/2008 14:30

ha ha ha Wel whatever the film is it will be a hint in the general direction. I soooo dont know how to approach the subject?? Not sure why I dont...weird.

I'd be surprised if she hasn't already covered this at school anyway?? My DS also 10 was so affected by the talk they had at school he needs persuading to go to the shop directly across the road!!!

princessglitter · 30/07/2008 17:30

I would recommend reading 'Protecting the Gift.'
