jewels I posted the bonnet yesterday so you should get it today or tomorrow.

There is a very large part of me who cannot wait to get back to work, for the reasons you have all stated. I just know that I won't have anymore kids so this is my last chance of mat leave, so gonna make the most of it.

I popped into work this week to see one of the guys for my poorly shoulder (I'm a physio) and he said that work was great at the mo, really good atmosphere, good morale, we have no waiting list so even the patients are happy . It definitely made me feel very positive about going back next year.

Jewelsandgems · 07/11/2008 21:00

Thanks LM received the bonnet today and it is really nice - thanks so much [and I used to live just down the road from you in Ware!]

Otherwise, I am a bit pissed from drinking cosmopolitans but mum and dad are having the girls tomorrow whilst we go and get me some new fitness stuff (my summer outfits are rather small and flesh-bearing, and I need something warmer) and then followed by strictly on tv at night! Yay!

Izzy was up about 3 times last night and I am getting pissed off with it. I ended up awake most of the night just waiting for her to wake up! And for one of the times she was just yelling not crying. May have to be a bit tougher tonight.

Well girls think no more drink for me have a good night xx

Chaotica · 07/11/2008 21:48

Evening all

Managed to have a good day here, despite DS being diagnosed with a chest infection (he's been put on ABs which I hope will help quickly). DD and I played pooh-sticks in a country park and she discovered why wet slides are pretty useless. Then she spent over an hour waiting for the doctor with me and DS and behaved (well, she didn't misbehave - I don't count rolling around the floor and running around like a crazy girl, as what else is a 2 year old supposed to do for entertainment?) - truly, she deserves an award of some kind (instead I think she's getting another cold - life is not fair!).

Hope you have a nice weekend.

Chaotica - we must live a double life I spent an hour yesterday waiting for docs too and was pleased with how well Dcs behaved DS has got ear infection so got ABs also.

Hope your DS gets better soon.

Abs seem to be working but now think DD might be coming down with something

Jewelsandgems · 08/11/2008 15:43

Sorry to hear about the chest infections chaotica and simpson. Freya and Izzy are rarely ill, but then they do not go to a childminder/nursery. And yes, I know when they do start pre-school, they will have everything one after the other, and will be much worse (so I am not boasting)

Mum and dad have had the girls this morning while we did some essential shopping which was nice and we had a long lingering hot chocolate and muffins without any "mummy!" interuptions at all [bliss emoticon]

mum and dad are coming around for dinner, and then DH is bathing the babies whilst I sit downstairs with mum, a cosmopolitan in hand, and watch strictly come dancing

Hoping you are all having a good a weekend xx

SpookyGrrrl · 09/11/2008 04:45

Dyl has decided to start getting up at a stupid time now. i've been up since 3.45am today. i was going to the gym this morning, but won't be now.

I keep teling myself this will pass, but i'm not convincing myself.

Chaotica · 09/11/2008 14:37

Afternoon, all

Oh Grrrl - I think you'll just have to reconcile yourself to the fact that you're breeding morning people . On the other hand, it will be over; perhaps not until they're teenagers, but I'm sure it'll end some time. [hopeful emoticon]

Kaybee - are you in NZ yet? Are you still with us?? (Suddenly got curious.) [upside down emoticon] (sorry - poor joke!) Maybe you'd like to start a 2 under 3 with jetlag thread

Jewels - like the sound of your weekend: hope you had a nice relaxing evening.

Must go and do some work now - DP has taken DD out (although I suspect he'll be back soon with some new lines on his face) and DS is asleep (much better for two days of ABs but still a bit off-colour).

BTW - the advantage of not working is not having to worry all weekend if you're going to have to take more time off for one of the DCs to be ill. (I suspect this might get quite embarrassing - at least I have quite a flexible job, but I have to make up the hours...)

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 09/11/2008 19:37

Evening all,

I have namechanged (was luckymummy) as I have been trying to think of something for ages that sums me up at the moment and I think this is it.

Feeling very as a few months ago I thought I had PND, then brushed it off, but I am realising more and more that I haven't felt myself for months, since DD2 was born. I have decided to talk to my (actually very nice and helpful) HV about it this week. I am just sick of being moody, irrational, shouty etc etc.

DD2 has also taken to waking up at stupid o'clock, 4am last night. I don't know if it's teeth, a growth spurt or what, but it is doing my head in!!!!!

Cazwa · 09/11/2008 22:17

Hello all, sorry for not being around. Billy has been ill with a bad chest and ended up with antibiotics. Had lots of horrible nights broken sleep with him ending up in my bed most nights. Hopefully we are out of the woods, hes been a happy bunny today. Stella seems to be dropping her afternoon naps . I knew this day would come but its still hard as I used to have a nap when she did. Has everyone else's older ones stopped napping? What do you do now, do you stay in while the youngest naps or get them to nap on the go.

Im on edge tonight, my little niece and SIL have nits, and we've been in contact with them a couple of times. We've tried to limit head contact with kids and she is being treated, but I feel really itchy tonight please say no nits!!

Had a bad hangover for most of today due to copious wine drinking with an old schoolfriend visiting. She has an 8mo, her 3rd child, and makes it look like a breeze. Still not convinced, no more for me!

Good nights sleep for all x

Chaotica · 10/11/2008 00:15

Evening all, and hello (hungover) Cazwa. DS is just recovering from a chest infection too although it sounds better than your DS. His ABs seem to be working - he was even smiling and having fun again today.

Freya is threatening to drop her naps as well (quite often she won't nap, or she just has a tantrum about it first). She's still a nicer person if she does nap, but what can I do? The best we can manage is enforcing some "quiet" (or not so quiet) playing in her room if she doesn't want to sleep and sometimes she naps after all... Sometimes I just go upstairs when I hear an exceptionally loud bump and check she isn't climbing the wall though (Her room is child-proofed - at least I think it is...)

GoodDaysandBadDays - I liked you as Luckymummy (even if that's not how you feel). Sorry to hear you're feeling bad (although most of us have terrible shouty days - don't feel too bad about those). I thought I had PND for a while, but now I think it was just awful pmt instead which I'm trying to sort out. I hope your HV helps out. In the meantime - keep posting (however bad your days!).

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 10/11/2008 12:01

Thanks chaotica. I rang the HV this morning and she is coming to see me tomorrow.

simpson · 10/11/2008 12:24

Hi all

Sorry to hear so many Dcs are still sick

Ds seems much better but DD now has a hacking cough and has coughed so much a couple of times she has been sick

On the nap front am in shock myself as DD seems to have gone down to only one nap a day! Is that normal for 9mths...I can't remember

Gooddaysandbaddays - Hope your HV helpful tomorrow. Sorry things are tough for you ATM. How old is DD2?

Jewelsandgems · 10/11/2008 15:01

Hi ladies

I do also dread the no napping future as right now, both the girls nap at the same time at lunchtime 13-1500 and I reallu enjoy that time to myself.

simpson just the one nap seems like it is not enough to me but if she is sleeping through the night still and is happy when awake, then I guess you just have to go with it! Izzy still naps 0800-0900 and then 1300-1500 and has only just cut out her late afternoon nap which used top be 1630-1700.

goodandbad [aka lucky} I am sorry to hear you are experiencing some PND. Though I do think we all do to a point and even npw, when Iz is nearing 1 I still have days when I am shouty and generally pissed off. Perhaps arrange some babysitting on a regular occasion (like once a month) for you and your DH to go out alone, and then this is something you can look forwad to.

I am pissed off today due to HP customer services but that's another story. arrrgh!

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 10/11/2008 16:50

Thanks for your support girls. DD1 is 2.5 yrs old and DD2 just turned 6 months.

I really don't know if it's PND or what, My Mum keeps telling me I haven't got it as she felt like this for a year after I was born and my brother was 2 yrs old 9same age gap). I think she probably did have it, less diagnosed in the early 70's probably.

Today has been good day, DD2 eating really well. I've just started weaning and I hate the first bit, however, we seem to have turned a corner....

I have a chest infection too, sometimes I cough so much I'm sick.......

Such a magical time......LOL!!!

SpookyGrrrl · 11/11/2008 08:26

Gooddays- i can remember sobbing to the GP after DS2 was born thinking i had PND. I didn't, but i felt so bad tempered and exhausted i thought i must have something wrong with me. Like jewels said, try and make time for you / you and DP if you can, and definately talk to someone about it (although maybe not your mum if she's a bit 'old school' and thinks it's normal to be miserable for a year after you have a baby!)

I have a feeling today is going to be pants. I'm broke, it's too cold and windy, and George has just peed all over my only clean pair of jeans. Hoorah! The kids got up at 5am, which is better than it has been, and Dyl was up once in the night (again, better than it has been)

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 11/11/2008 09:27

Thanks grrl. I feel brilliant today.....hmmm, probably something to do with the fact that DH has 6 days off now, one of my best mates is coming to visit today from USA with her 4 month old baby who I haven't met yet, and I'm going away for a 'mums only no kids allowed' weekend with my mates........

SpookyGrrrl · 11/11/2008 12:02

glad you're having a good day- a child free weekend sounds brilliant! And i always love it when DH is home too.

It's very quiet here- both been asleep for 2 hrs, at the same time! I've made their lunch ready, made a stew for tea, done 2 loads of washing, put away a clean, dry load of clothes, changed our bedding...i managed this last week aswell I must be doing something right.

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 11/11/2008 15:58

OH Grrrl I know that very satisfied feeling well.

I saw the HV. She was lovely and said she thinks I have mild PND . TBH, bit of a relief to have it diagnosed, I think DH will maybe pay a bit more attention now. I don't mean that in a bad way against him, just that I think he was getting hacked off with me being so miserable, but now he knows I can't help it, IYSWIM.

HV coming back to see me in 2 weeks.

simpson · 11/11/2008 20:39

Gooddays - glad you have diagnosis (not glad you have PND, but you know what I mean!!) Also good that your HV is going to keep visiting you.

Enjoy weekend away

DD went to docs today (was Dh's appt, but she gate crashed!!) Doc not too concerned and said keep doing what we are doing but if no better then go back on thursday.

I felt pretty ropey today but managed to get a lovely afternoon nap and feel loads better Just hope I can sleep tonight now!!

Chaotica · 11/11/2008 22:49

DD announced this morning that she was going to work and I could go and play all day at the CM's... If only!

Gooddays - glad you got the HV on side (sorry to hear it is pnd, but as you said, it was probably underdiagnosed in the past).

Enjoy weekend away !

Simpson - and nap (I promised myself one, but it didn't happen!)

Chaotica · 11/11/2008 23:08

Grrrl - glad you had a satisfying day. Somehow, no matter how much I do, it's always slightly less (or a whole lot less) than I'd planned [grrrr!]. Think I'll just have to accept it...

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 12/11/2008 20:39

I think we are all guitly of trying to be 'supermum'. Obviously we are all super mums......

Cazwa · 12/11/2008 20:48

Gooddays, I meant to add my support for you and finding out about PND, hope you are on the up very soon.

Am v jealous of weekend away

I have splashed out today on this dress from Warehouse which looks amazing on apart from giving you a sagging bum from the back, but a couple of stitches will sort that. Hides lots of problem areas round the front while giving boobs a boost. However this means I cant afford to take DH out for dinner on friday night for his birthday . Im off to double-check bank account now....hopefully child benefit will arrive before then!

GoodDaysAndBadDays · 12/11/2008 21:00

Oooo cazwa that dress could be just what I'm looking for! I'm going to a wedding in January (who gets married in January FGS !!!) and haven't a clue what to wear. I think that could be the dress. I'm a size 12 with fairly OK boobs (considering BF two kids) and a TUMMY, which it looks like it would hide quite nicely.

Going to Bristol for our weekend, I'm sure there will be a warehouse there. thanks for he link though!!

Loving the purple too!

Pinkyminkee · 12/11/2008 21:10

Hello everyone.. can I join you?

I have DS who is 3.5 years, DD1 who is 2 and DD2 who is 17 days old.
