Hi again thanks for the welcomes am feeling much more positive about the bump which at 5weeks apprx is much more noticable than I would like lol although we will need a new car as couldn't even put 2.4ds in the front cos of air bags any good tips for cars? X

TattooedGrrrl · 01/10/2008 06:55

i'm no help with cars i'm afraid, i'm stopping at 2!

Crap night here- Dyl was up for an hour so i resorted to giving him a bottle, then he wet himself at 6am. George wet himself aswell, and was up by 5am, and my shoulder is sore today. Don't know if trying to take them to playgroup is madness or not.

Grrrl definate sympathy for you - I had a crap too for a change! Don't know what's up with Izzy but she was just moaning all night and wondering around her cot. I had to get up numerous times to untangle her from blankets and put her back on her back. She has been grumpy today too and only really settled when I gave her calpol (and yes, I have no idea why I did not give her some last night in the first place!)

Freya has also been a knightmare with the walking and "no" thing again so I put her back in the doubles seat and did not let her have her cbeebies magazine with toy mobile phone. Feel bad about it, and she did have a tantrum but if I do give her the magazine after that behaviour, then surely that is a reward? God, after the broken nights sleep I have had enough! Don't know how you all carry on with normal daily life (and work!) after being woken in the night! [admiriation for you all emoticon]

Welcome back loopy

mumof2 you can turn off your front airbag so you can then use the carseat in the front. Ours is in the glovebox and you have to insert key to turn it off/on. HTH?

Jewelsandgems · 01/10/2008 18:03

PMSL insert "night" into sentance ie should read 'i had a crap night too'

Cazwa · 01/10/2008 21:08

Jewels, hope you had a nappy on when you did that!

Billy is much better, he was allowed in nursery today and I got a much needed rest at work! Had such a tough week, esp with Stella being stuck indoors a lot. She kept missing her naps and being a misery as the day went on. Kicking her wellies off in the street, throwing things, etc.

Yawn, I might have an early night. Got another day of work tomorrow. Did I ever say how much I enjoy work sometimes? I feel bad but its such a lovely break from the routine and only 2 days a week.

AIRBAGS - our car (ford focus) you cant turn the airbags off, not all cars can.

Jewels - I fell over in the street with my P&T, it ran away from me as I tripped and it fell on its side. Kids were completely fine, I scuffed my knees!

Chaotica · 01/10/2008 21:16

Evening all, and welcome back, Loopy

Jewels - PMSL too: I thought you were either standing in for Cazwa with the embarrassing story of the week, or all this potty training was going to our heads. (Probably should say "Well Done!" in a very impressed and calm kind of voice ...)

BTW (Jewels) I've borrowed a copy of Toddler Taming - I'll let you know if it's got any gems of wisdom in it (if I get a chance to read it before DD is 10...). Just succeeded where DP was failing though, so she is at least in bed (and had milk and story). She even had a tantrum about having tantrums the other day and was sitting in her chair screaming "I don't want to cry! I don't want to cry!" at the top of her voice (while crying) - Poor kids, they can't help it, I'm sure of it... But that's not much comfort when you're stuck with a screaming loon in the rain (on the edge of a cliff with a bus coming and a baby in the other arm... )

Mumof2 - I'm no help on cars either, but my CM does put 3 in the back seat with car seats. I think you can turn the airbags off though as Jewels suggested.

Chaotica · 01/10/2008 21:18

Glad to hear Billy is getting better, Cazwa.

simpson · 01/10/2008 21:44

Sorry not had chance to read thread and catch up properly

Just wanted to say Cazwa glad Billy seems much better

Jewels - what are you doing to me!! LOL LOL & LOL at had crap... then insert night. Have not laughed so much for ages!!

More tomorrow...

Hope everyone else ok...

Kaybeeand2boys · 01/10/2008 21:49

Hello
PMSL at Jewels
Glad Billy is getting better Cazwa.

Re cars, cant remember what the question was, but my neighbours have 3 carseats in the back of a Touran

Anyone know if airlines provide milk for toddlers on long haul flights? Zak still has it in the morning and at night in a beaker......... Not sure what to expect from the flight

Chaotica · 02/10/2008 12:11

Aaaaargh! My full time job has started (done by email until next week) and I have a full scale potty-training regression on my hands... I am not dealing with this well.

Off to playgroup now (with 10 spare pairs of trousers in the bottom of the buggy).

Kaybeeand2boys · 02/10/2008 13:07

oh chaotica what a nightmare

Chaotica · 02/10/2008 16:37

Why? why? why? why? WHY!

(OK - so I sound like a toddler myself now )

...DD was damn near perfect at potty training for the last two weeks and now...

I must stay calm (although I have to admit I'm not doing so well at times)

Chaotica · 02/10/2008 16:39

Don't know about the milk on flights, Kaybee. I've never flown long haul with child in tow, so I'm no help. You could ask in the travel section perhaps. (You can probably buy it once you've got through security...) (or do they just sell whisky and gin?)

samsonara · 02/10/2008 18:35

I have dd1, 3 years, dd2, 22 months and ds 7 months. Just had positive surprising potty training experience with dd2. Earlier today she asked for potty did most of wee on floor but some on potty, she was praised. Now ten mins ago, asked for potty and did a proper wee, and then started saying look, look, ofcourse gave her lots of praise, and when I asked dd1 to say well done clever etc, she said well I dont think its very clever!!! She refuses to wear pants but can use toilet but wont stop wetting the pull ups. I didnt bother to start dd2 training as its not complete with dd1, but how amazing all my efforts have been absorbed by dd2 atleast! I hope it lasts!

kittykat77 · 02/10/2008 20:28

Hi all,

I have 2 under 3 - DD 2yrs 3months & DS 16 months.

We are also having the nightmare that is potty training. Have now been at it for about 2 months. Some days DD is perfect & stays dry all day, other days the washing basket is full. Can definately sympathise with the 10 pairs of trousers in the bag!

Have also found that putting on pullups just means that DD uses them like a nappy. So we have gone cold turkey (so to speak) and just kept her in pants as far as is practically possible.

Just keep thinking how great it is that we will have to go through it all again next year when DS needs training!

TattooedGrrrl · 03/10/2008 06:45

kaybee- i know Virgin provide baby food and sachets of formula. It's in their interest to keep kids happy and quiet, so they usually have loads of kids stuff.

I'M GOING OUT TONIGHT!!!!!!

It's our 10 year anniversary, i have red heels and frock ready, and i've got a cute mini mohawk. Kids are at CMs and i'm off work, so after i've done all the housework this morning, i'm going to have a soak in the bath and then paint my nails.

Hope everyone's good. George is still getting up well early- always wakes at 4.45am Aaarrgggghhhhhh!

Kaybee, I've flown to the US and back many times with my 2 DCs, and we always brought bottles filled with ready-made formula at room temp. It's sterile when you pour it in so no worries about heating powder to a certain temp and cooling it in the plane. Provided your long haul flight isn't more than a day long this ought to cause no problems. Planes are generally on the cool side so the formula in the bottles will keep well.
We tried bringing ready made formula in cartons with us and empty bottles but they took it, and we had to buy it again at Boots once we got through security.
We tried bringing powder and water to mix it with. They took the water. We had to use the hot water the plane provided. It was always way too hot and had to be cooled down for ages. Do not recommed.

Good luck...

Kaybeeand2boys · 03/10/2008 15:20

The flight in total is 29h 25m ! oh god, i think i must be insane to be doing this!

I posted in the travel section, and apparently you can buy formula thru security, and even reserve the formula you need! So will give that i go i guess.

Zak doesnt drink formula though, he drinks whole milk so was curious about whether the airlines had it onboard

Chaotica · 03/10/2008 15:48

Kaybee - You might be able to buy whole milk (if there's a boots, or something, maybe...?).

I know I was fuming because we weren't allowed to take DS's 'normal' food onto the plane to Turkey (I refer you back to the controlled explosion of soft cheese, houmous and yogurt some thousand posts ago ) but we were allowed to take baby food which he won't eat - the only person who actually ate any was me because I had to try it . Even though there was adult food (sandwiches etc) through security there was very little you could give to a 10m baby.

HAVE A GREAT NIGHT OUT GRRRL! Happy anniversary, btw.

Chaotica · 03/10/2008 15:49

BTW - hi samsonara and Kittykat77 and welcome

...Don't know whether I'm pleased to hear that other people are having potty training hell to deal with as well or not (I feel your pain! )

samsonara · 03/10/2008 20:09

Thanks Chaotica and hello to you and everyone!.. No it didnt last with dd2, as she couldnt be bothered after that attempt, it was probably just a "magic moment", come and went like a vanishing act , Im sure they think 'I wonder if I can do it in the potty when I want to... oh I can..yippee..ok.. ticked that box, now what next....oh I know I'll see if I can get that fridge door open..(or something..)"

lou031205 · 03/10/2008 20:16

Hi again! A rather extensive update on DD1 is here if anyone is interested
