Both kids in their bedroom. What do I do now?

Reception teacher just told me my DD has been teaching swear words to rest of reception. Teacher told me that my DD had been taught them by her older brother. DS is 7.

DS has been taught them himself from another boy in his class (I know this is true) and he has also heard them on Harry Potter films (which I have let them both watch).

Deal is - they know which words are swear words and know, absolutely, they are not allowed to use them.

Now I've bought them home - told them both off for using/teaching others. Sent to bedroom.

Now what? PS -- I appreciate this is a situation of my own making because of the HP films, so I have back-footed myself.

Just remind them about not using them and that they're "grown up" words/not nice.

If it makes you feel better, I got spoken to by DS1's Y2 teacher (who could barely contain her giggling) who told me that DS1 had used the word "f*cking" in his written work. when she'd asked him what it said, he'd read it to her just to be sure there was no doubt...

Went in bedroom and told them what you said - ie, too young, grown up words, Mummy & Daddy don't use them (never swear in front of the kids).

Told them if any other children use them, I want to know about it and that they are not, under any circumstances, to repeat them.

Can't think of what else to do but I am dreading the school gates tomorrow morning - all the mummy's are going to want to know what the hell my daughter is doing teach their children these words and what am I going to do about it?

5 years old and already she has a bad rep.

Still, might slow down the party invites a bit which will save us some money - LOL!

Don't worry too much Doodle all kids do this stuff, if you have told them off for it that is probably enough for now. Maybe let them know of a consequence if they use them again?

Honestly if anyone is actually upset with you over this then they need to get a life. Just kids being kids.

It's no big deal - you've dealt with it brilliantly, now forget it. The main thing is that if they never hear it at home, they are learning basically; they know that at home, you're polite and that's that and they will go along with that.

I wouldn't give the matter any further thought or attention now.

One of the few times I felt really at sea about how to proceed. I think I was having to deal with my own feelings of embarrassment AND the fact that I was being a complete hypocrite.

Will do as suggested and let it go, for now! Glad it's not just us but I wish it wasn't my kids in the wrong. I want to be on the other side of this - the mother bristling with indignation, outrage and self-righteousness that my child has been exposed to such loutish words!

Please don't worry Doodle. Surely we all send them to school KNOWING what they'll hear in the playground? It would be totally unreasonable to be up in arms about it. It has happened since the first days of schools!

I know, I know. Just caught me off guard. I expect mine to hear stuff at school - indeed, they both have but today, it was MY DD doing the teaching! Not been on this side of it before!

Doodle, my best friend's daughter once called the admin lady at his nursery a "Fucking Moron" she said "Good morning [insert name], fucking moron".

NO IDEA where she got it from and the tone didn't imply that she thought she was being mean or anything it was just delivered in her cute little 3 year olds sweet sing songy voice. Now THAT was mortifying!

Did the school run - deliberately late. Chased the kids through the junior door and made them scuttle across the hall to their classroom then I legged it. Missed all reception parents by a good 5 minutes, so don't have to face the music until this afternoon, by which time, many may have forgotten and the bristling indignation levels should have dropped to more Doodle manageable levels
