Confused about what DP wants

Namechanged for this.

We have one DD who is 3 in November. DD has been saying for ages that he doesn't want another child and I've respected that though I am not happy about it.

HOWEVER everytime I've tried to get rid of any of DD's stuff - eg car seat, high chair, moses basket etc. he tells me to keep hold of it as it may come in useful. Then when I did get rid of it he says "well we can always buy another one". So last night I asked him what he wanted and got told he still doesn't want another child. Then when I asked again if we could get rid of highchair as I've no where to store it he said we should keep hold of it as it may come in useful.

Arrrrrg what on earth is he trying to tell me? Can anyone work it out?

Did you not ask him what he thought it would come in useful for?

Yes ask him what it will come in useful for. Does he wnat to foster/adopt?

is he a hoarder by nature?

maybe he wants another secretly but doesnt want to take any responsibility,so would prefer a 'suprise' iyswim.
