How to stop my 6.5 month old hurting herself when she is puulling herself up on furniture?

Hello. MY cheeky 6.5month old has learnt to pull herself up on certain bits of furniture. Trouble is, she fell down today and really smacked the back of her head on the floor. Obviously I try and stop her falling but its not always possible when I am looking after other children too.

What do you do? She is still very small (under 14lb) so I dont really want her to hurt herself!

other than ensureing she is on a soft surface, such as carpet, or grass,so that if she does fall, she doesnt hurt herself, i dont think you should stop her. it will help her to learn how to control her muscles better.

i had a nightmare with a mobile 3.5 month old. used to have to rescue her from under the sofa, wheere she would propel herself to, and then get her head stuck under it.

lol. When you say active - was she crawling at 3.5months old?! My DD was rolling etc then but not crawling. I had to move her cot matress to the bottom level by 4months as I was scared she woul d get out. And Sadly, my lovely mamas and papas pram is waiting to go in the loft!

I don't know whether it was okay but ds banged his head all the time! However, I know from experience his head was incredibly tough as he also used to nut me in the head if I had the temerity to lie on the sofa and close my eyes while I was looking after him!

lol, she did what is called the bottom shuffle. ie she would kick against the floor which would propel her backwards.she could travel all the way accross the room like this, however she couldnt steer herself. hence getting her head stuck under the sofa's, against the tiles of the fireplace, etc.
i first knew she could do this when she fell of the side of the double bed. since she didnt know how to roll over, i had felt she was fine there for a few minutes. silly me.
she didnt learn to roll over till much much later, and lazy girl didnt sit till six months.

I dont think 6months is late to sit. My DD did it before then but I know alot of babies who dont

no it isnt. but she is a lazy girl with respect to someother things, and thus unfortunately tarred with that brush by bad mommy
