Would you let him go?

I know there's been a very similar thread to this (and I've looked coddy, I just can't find it ) so apologies in advance.

Last night, after being warned that he would miss the end of a programme because he needed a bath, ds totally lost it when I switched the TV off (he's 6). Lots of pushing, shouting, total disobedience. He was warned that if he carried on, he wouldn't be allowed to go to Beavers tonight. Sure enough, he carried on and so was told that he wouldn't be going.

Of course, this morning he's very sorry and is desperate to go. I knew this would happen and DH and I discussed it last night and our inclination is to stand firm.

Would you?

has any one any suggestions to punish 14 year old dd who often misses her school bus. I end up having to give her a lift to school, but with two other ds aged 4 and 16 yrs it gets to be a busy run. my dp says i should make her cycle to school. as if ... she would flatly refuse . i know full well if i didnt drive her there she just wouldnt go ! had big fall out with dp this a.m cos dd forget to set alarm and i woke her up with half an hour to go to get the bus. needing ages to do hair and face (yes, foundation, eye shadow, lip gloss etc, sadly )she missed bus and good old mum here had to take her.dp thinks i am a mug. we then fall out as i defend her cos he is unpleasant towards her bout situation. HELP.

AS long as you are going to run her, she will continue to miss the bus!

Wow, I wasn't allowed to wear makeup to school when I was 14! If she forgot to set the alarm and she's going to miss her bus then she has to skip the face routine IMO. But it must seem unfair to her to have to get the bus if her two sisters have lifts... why is this?

If she misses the bus, too bad she has to stay home, and will need to do the work to catch up on the classes she missed.

I agree with SkerriesMum. Get into the car now - no makeup, no time to fix her hair. Bet she only does it once!!

maltesers · 07/02/2005 13:42

couldnt physically get her in the car. she would dig her heels in. usually take 4 yr od ds to nursery school and usually older ds gets his own bus to sixth form college, but now and again take two or three of them. you are right though nerdgirl and skerriesmum.

why don't you confiscate an item of make-up (for a week perhaps) every time she misses the bus? that'll concentrate her mind

maltesers · 08/02/2005 10:45

good idea hatoff. confiscate some makeup sounds good she does love it, will be called a bitch for doing it but what the heck.
