SOMEONE ANSWER A Q ABOUT SWIM NAPPYS?

Have always put ds in the disposable swim nappys and i know they dont suck up water so when he got out pool i presumed he'd weed in the nappy and it stays in the nappy.

However yesterday i bought him proper swim shorts and it says it has a swim nappy attached inside. All it is is a terry towelling type pant bit. Surely this is going to swell up in pool and how will it keep the wee in??

I think the nappies are mainly to contain solids rather than wee, but the towling will absorb some if not all of the wee.

the disposables don't hold the wee, wee gets neutralised by the pool chemicals anyway, the purpose it to catch poo.

don't know about re-usables.

I have same sort of reusable swim nappy and understood that it was a poo-catcher rather than wee-holder. Luckily not been put tot he ultimate test

it shouldn't well up, I've used both. And they do really only catch poo. I'd avoid using the reuseable when poos are due anyhow - they are a nightmare to clean.

neither the disposables or the washables hold in pee, they are for poo only. Thankfully in the 19 months or so we have been taking him swimming he has never pooed while in the pool.

CarGirl · 03/07/2008 19:50

with the disposables if they don't wee in them (they do hold onto a bit of wee because they go yellow!) I used to try them out and use them again - this was for paddling pool use I hasten to add!

if you swim regularly i would go for a reusable swim nappy it will save you lots of money.

i have gone swimming with my son nearly every week for the last year (or so) and not one of the babies in the class have ever pooed in the pool, thankfully
