She is really consitpated and has been trying to do a poo all afternoon. What is best to help her?

I got my DH to get some prune juice from tescos but he bought one that was from concentrate Can I still give this and will it still do the trick? I bought some fresh orang juice and she drunk some of that (diluted)

She is in so much pain with it. She is brestfed too so not sure what caused it.

What food is best for me to feed her tomorrow as she is on 3 meals a day.

Take her to the doctors to see if they will give you some suppositaries(sp), had same prob with ds and these worked great

Lie her on her back and bicycle her legs. You can also massage her tummy in clockwise circles.

A nice warm bath often works wonders too.

Weeabix? Is that why ds always poops twice in morning?

MrsTiddles · 01/07/2008 20:31

I would stick to fruits and veg. tomorrow. Avoid meat and cereals.

Give her tinned prunes. They work v well.

chloemegjess · 01/07/2008 20:34

awww, I feel bad now that I hadnt given her much water today. I did offer her it in a beaker, but I guess I should have done a bottle too as she isnt keen on the beaker

lots and lots of watermelon.

littleboyblue · 01/07/2008 20:36

Yes, she'll need lots of water in this weather. I filled ds's cup 4 times today

miffymum · 01/07/2008 20:40

Agree lots of water. I used to drink orange juice myself when bf-ing constipated DD and that worked!

My baby has had issues with constipation. I didnt want to keep using chemicals, so I wet a cotton bud, lubricated it and his bottom and broke the seal manually. Insert it very slowly, alittle at a time, then when it stops make gentle small scooping movements. This helps to get the hard "seal" out then baby usually starts to push on their own. I know it seems gross, but you can see her pain now- wait till you see her smile afterwards
Aparently kiwifruit juice helps, but my son is too young for food

chloemegjess · 07/07/2008 20:22

I dont think I will be doing that paris! Sorry, just really wouldn't feel right. Orange juice seems to be doing the trick. Trying to get her to drink prune juice but she isn't keen
