All baby teeth out by 9yo

My 9yo DD2 has just lost her last baby tooth. She’s written a letter to the tooth fairly and we will dutifully write back tonight and place her coin under her pillow (although we might put a note in this time as it’s her last one!)

DD1 didn’t lose her last tooth until she was nearly 12, and at that point hadn’t believed in the tooth fairy for a while.

Is it quite unusual for all baby teeth to be out at 9yo?! (9.5 to be precise). How many children lose all their baby teeth whilst still believing in the tooth fairy?

She has a check up with the dentist next month. She does have a very crowded mouth but the dentist said it might be because there’s so many big teeth in a little mouth and that hopefully as her mouth grows the teeth might have more space although it’s likely she’ll need braces.

So she is in y5? I think at that age whilst many of them play along and enjoy the money and the comfort of the familiar stories they are at the age that they are growing out of it, and loosing all their baby teeth I think cements that really. It's a nice natural end to something.

I think she knows already really. I had all baby teeth gone and was in braces in y5. Sadly well past tooth fairy but still enjoyed playing along (not just for the money). That’s a valid tooth fairy based relationship.

it’s funny how we feel different about our kids from ourselves at that age. my DD is in y5 now. I actually don’t know if she still has baby teeth. I do catch myself thinking certain books or ideas are too scary at her age despite having encountered way worse at her age. I guess we want to protect them.

My second DD had lost all of hers by 9.5. My elder DD is nearly 13 and still has 2 to lose!

We are in Scotland, so P4.

Maybe she does know, but she gets so excited to write letters and receive them from the tooth fairy. It’s lovely, and I’m genuinely sad that I’m no longer going to be writing her or her sister letters in curly wurly writing. I feel it’s totally crept up on me.
