Do you ever feel like you’re constantly repeating yourself as a parent?

Some days I feel like I spend the entire day saying the same things over and over again. Get dressed, brush your teeth, put your shoes on, tidy up, stop arguing. By the time one thing is sorted, something else starts!

I know children are still learning and can’t be expected to get everything right, but it can be exhausting feeling like you’re constantly nagging, especially when you’re already juggling work, housework and everything else.

I’m curious whether other parents experience this too. Do your children eventually start listening without being reminded a hundred times, or is this just part of parenting? What has actually helped in your house?

It never ends. Even as teens you have to keep repeating yourself. Just remember that one day they will leave home.💐

It's hard. I think that things can start to slowly sink in with constant repetition but it's takes forever.

Routine brings them comfort. You saying the same things again and again is part of the routine!

You can begin to say to them 'You know this routine, we do it every day - shoes coat, bag, lets go' which starts to shift the responsibility slightly onto them.

But yeah. Mine are 10 and 12 and while largely self sufficient, they can still act the giddy goats at bedtime.

You need to buy one of those voice boxes, like you put in a teddy at build a bear with multiple options.

Record

'leave them alone'
'sit down and eat your food'
'pick it up and put it away'
'reduce the volume'
'it's time to go'

Then you can press the buttons and save your voice.

All day every day. It’s incredibly tedious. Mine are 2 and 3 and going through a stage where I literally just deal with demands/tell them off all day long as they just will not bloody behave. It’s draining the life out of me ! Is it bloody bedtime yet !!!!!
