Been in NNU since Wednesday finally got discharged today collected my little boy from his nanny’s but he’s full of a cold and cough… took him to MIU precautionary advice given by NNU.

they did a full check and said it’s viral, lymph’s are up, runny nose and a cough nan said been like it since Friday but didn’t want to worry us.

anyway I miss my boy so much I just wanna sit down with him and have endless cuddles but also worried now about his sibling getting it and going back to NNU any advice on what to do? Sibling is 5 days old.

Can you keep them apart as much as possible? You look after baby and DH looks after toddler?

Just wash hands and dispose of tissues etc. My first born didn't get his first cold until he was about 18 months old. My second was sick by day 10. You can't really avoid it.

I’m currently sleeping in a spare room as toddler normally comes in with me part of a morning for a couple hours but now goes in with DH but can I still sit down and cuddle him and then attend to the newborn or we have to be strictly separate he doesn’t understand and it’s hurting my heart

I can’t imagine how hard this must be for you op and nothing like you were expecting. In a few days your toddler will be better and hopefully everything will be abit more normal x

My one week old newborn caught Chicken Pox off my toddler. That was fun. He’s now 21 though and never had it again.

It’s absolutely awful when all he wants is me but also trying to not make the baby poorly or stay away from him for another week… just don’t know what to do and how other mums of multiple cope!!!! I’m in the trenches already

You can't stop being available for your oldest - it's just not feasible. It's a huge amount of upheaval for him already and he needs you. They'll will tag team being ill all winter.

How poorly was/is your baby? I mean there's born a bit quickly and struggled to start breathing but is now doing fine, in which case try to keep them apart, if you can wash your hands between seeing to older son and baby... but getting the odd nursery bug is a kind of right of passage for number 2 and will be unpleasant but unlikely to be super harmful.

If he is a tiny, super premie who had massive breathing difficulties at birth it's keeping than in different rooms and thoroughly washing hands between seeing to each of them.

He was full term, struggled to breathe abit at first so was on air flow then glucose dropped and became jaundice needing light therapy. I’ve kept them apart for the first night & tonight first time ever he’s gone to his nans I’ve not been here to know when his cold started his nan said around Friday but he’s had back to back viruses bless him I kept the baby in the other room earlier while I sat with him for dinner and then washed my hands throughly after but I just want to go back to normal!
