Just swore at my three year old

I know this was horrible of me.

I picked my older child up from school at 315. I knew the evening was going to be difficult as both children were just endlessly sort of moving around, charging around the lounge and jumping on the sofa. Any attempts to get them to go on the trampoline or the garden were met with refusal. So by bedtime I’d had this charging around and stupid behaviour for nearly three hours and it continued when DD got out of her bath, running around upstairs, shouting at me, annoying older sibling. Eventually got her to sit down and read some books and then smelled something horrible (she wears a pull up overnight) and she’d pooed. I was fine with that but in the process of getting her in the bathroom and changed set the whole mad hyper behaviour off again and she’s charging around. So I decided to get the other one in the shower and she was running in and out and just shouting nonsense at me ‘mummy I’m Harley (kid at preschool) mummy I a cat mummy I go to a party.’ Meanwhile ds is talking similar gibberish at me and I ended up shouting at them both to just stop. I did apologise to ds but they dd started shouting again and I yelled back to just (said this bit quietly but still said it) fuck off.

I know I’ll get loads of people telling me what I could have done to avoid said behaviour but honestly I just need a rant and to let it out. Completely done in tonight.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We’ve all done it, and you’re only human. Don’t worry about it. Just write today off as one of those days, reset and tomorrow is a fresh new day.

If this is the first time you’ve sworn at your child you’re doing well! I know you feel bad but just forgive yourself and move on.

I think we have all said something along those lines at some point. You’re human! I do try to tell my DD that I am a person who has emotions and just like she gets angry I can also feel the same and lose my temper.

We can’t all be Mary Poppins!

I’m not much of a swearer but I’ve done other things I’m very much not proud of when trying to manage small children. Mostly when sleep deprived and absolutely at the end of my rope. It is very hard……

Honestly just don’t worry about it.
