Hi. Does anyone have any advice of how to introduce a 6mo baby into room sharing with 4yo sibling? Thanks

No advice but it didn’t work for us. The baby would wake the just about 4 year old up and then it was chaos. We ended up just moving the cot back into our room until he was about 15 months and sleeping through the night

Yeah a nightmare here until the youngest slept through
Sorry!

Unless baby is sleeping through the night , I don't see how it would work . Just two tired children then .

Agree with the above posters. My youngest boy went in with my eldest once he was 2 and was a good age to be excited about sharing a room and wasn’t waking up for feeds anymore.

My 6mo is a very good sleeper and sleeps through the night most of the time. Was night waking the main thing that made it difficult?

Unless they're fully sleeping through the night I wouldn't bother it wouldn't be fair on your 4yo.
we kept our youngest in with us until she was 15 months old and sleeping through mostly every night, i started daytime naps in the room they'd be sharing around 12 months so she was used to the space and it went smoothly.

My two arsed around when they started sharing a room so I put baby to bed in her bed and put older DC to bed in our bed until it was time for us to sleep. That way baby was asleep and DC got a toilet stop on the way back to his bed. They slept through the rest of the night no issues and then we got bunk beds when older DC turned 6. They've been going to bed at the same time ever since as younger DC could no longer see older DC which meant playtime was never initiated

Not fair on the 4 year old. A baby that small should just stay in with you.

Even one wake up per week would disturb the 4 year old who has to go to school the next day.

And for the record, mine slept like a dream between 4 and 7 months. Once teething and illnesses started, that went out the window. I wouldn't bank on it.

We had a similar arrangement. Both kids slept through the other waking up at night (including stripping beds on occasion). We used to joke you could send a marching band through thier room and they wouldn't wake up. We put them to bed at the same time, I would feed the baby and read to my older ds then both into bed. DS would often read for a bit afterwards but didn't really disturb his little brother. The downside was in the morning - if one woke up they would generally get the other up. However they loved sharing and my older ds would sometimes 'read' to his baby brother in the morning which gave us a bit longer in bed!

My two shared from when the youngest was 10months until they turned 3.5.
it was absolutely fine for us, until we needed to remove the cot side because the youngest was climbing.

then bedtime because absolutely chaos with them both getting in and out of bed, running around and messing about!

We then started ‘quiet time’ for example colouring, reading in the living room, whilst we put the younger one to sleep - and it got better.

2year age gap for reference!

Also to add, similar to PP, my two didn’t wake each other up (typically) and the youngest didn’t sleep through religiously until they were 3!
