My DS hasn't pooed for three days!

Just wondering if this is normal, he's 12 weeks and breast fed, peeing lots and seems perfectly happy. I've just started giving him water but not sure what else to do, should I be worried?

He doesn't need water.
This is entirely normal with breastfed babies - they just don't produce much waste.
I cannot remember how long my DD went without a poo at this age but it was in excess of 2 weeks, so be prepared for a long wait.

As long as he seems happy then all is well.

Sounds normal to me.
No need for water - your foremilk is the watery part of his drink.
If he's peeing plenty and is happy, then he's ok.

ScaryHairy - I was told that bf babies don't produce much poo, but my 2 were exactly the opposite. At least 6 a day. In fact by the time my dd was 5 months old, she had only given me about 5 "wet only" nappies. Bless her.

One of my babies used to go about once a week, then I had a 2nd and he went about 10 times a day! So both those and anything in between perfectly normal.
Breastmilk contains very little waste, so there isn't that much to poo out. Not like us with a big bowl of bran to bulk up in our tums and make us poo every day!

agree - totally normal and don't give him water - he doesn't need anything but your milk

Thanks so much . Will stop water and await the inevitable.
