Colicky baby - swing or vibrating bouncer?

Hi,

My 7 week old is really suffering with trapped wind/colic. She screams in such pain for hours and it's breaking my heart. Infacol helps some and I've got some colief arriving today so hopefully that'll help too. EBF for information.

Currently looking at trying a vibrating baby bouncer but not sure if a swing is better?

She's my second but my 4yr old was so chill when he was born so this is completely new and so upsetting. She's ok during the night but the afternoon and especially 7pm onwards are absolutely terrible. Any advice appreciated - just want my smiley morning girl to last through the day!

Oh gosh this is so hard, I really sympathise as my first (only) baby was like this.

Did you mention this at 6 week check / have you been to the GP about the colic? Just to make sure it definitely IS that and nothing else medical going on.

Have you tried massage and leg cycling after a warm bath?

Don’t have any specific advice on bouncer v swing, sorry! I found that we tried so many different things to settle my son and in the end I’m not sure if any of them helped. I think it was a case of surviving, finding ways to look after ourselves and each other and waiting it out. Can’t remember exactly how many weeks it lasted but by 10-12 weeks he grew out of it.

If you have another adult at home I'd put baby in a comfy carrier (ergobaby embrace) is ideal for this age and go for a fast 45 minute walk. The rhythmic jiggling really helped both of mine.

I still haven't had six week check, my GP told me they'd be doing it at 8 weeks and then booked it for next month, she'll be 10 weeks then...

I thought it was just trapped wind but mentioned it to the health visitor at my home visit on Friday and she said it was colic and would be better by 6mths 😂😭 I'm hoping your 10-12wks is more likely!!!

She does seem to love being in a carrier so i've been doing that as much as possible, it's just that when she's worse in the evening is when we're both knackered, after I get my son down I normally try and get in bed fairly soon after. I said to my husband about taking her out for a walk which he seemed up for but didn't happen unfortunately.
