Ideas for temporarily dividing a shared bedroom during our extension

Hello,

I am looking for ideas on how to temporarily separate/divide a bedroom.

My two daughters aged 9 and 7 are currently sharing a room (double bed) and are misbehaving at bedtime. Nothing seems to work in regards to stopping this, I have tried removing treats/privileges and also rewarding them! We have also tried sending the youngest to bed earlier, but she seems to take ages to go to sleep and my eldest still ends up being too late going to bed. I have put one of them in my bed, which does help but don’t want to do this all the time.

We are in the process of extending so they will have their own rooms, so don’t want to do anything too drastic to their room. But as the extension is likely to be 6months or more we don’t want to carry on like this!!

Any ideas on how to split them up temporarily?

Thank you x

Could probably start with bunk beds rather than them sharing a bed?!

Bookshelves. Full length curtain suspended from the ceiling. IKEA have a few suggestions.

Single beds! They'll need their own beds in their new rooms anyway.
Put beds at either side of the room and a bookshelf or screen in between.

One of those big IKEA Kallax down the middle of the room? I’m not being funny though but isn’t the main problem that they’re sharing a bed rather than a room?

Separate beds. Put the younger one to bed in your room then carry them to their own bed when you go to bed.

I really dislike it when posters are overly negative towards the OP but surely it has occurred to you that the bed is the issue here? You need to buy a bunkbed!

You can't really seperate them without another bed.

2 beds, curtains stapled to the ceiling or the big ikea divider if you're sure they won't push it over.

My boys share our attic room which is really large and will enventually be split into 2 seperate rooms, they have single beds on either side and a massive kallax unit in the middle! Also I’ve painted each side different colours to their choice and decorated how they want!
so they have their own space that’s theirs and decorated as they like!

I know it doesn’t help that they’re in the same
bed. But we did try putting my son’s single mattress on the other side of the room for one of them but they still messed around. I will have to have a sort out at the weekend and add curtains or bookshelves in the middle.
Thanks!
