Children with allergies and nursery

Sorry for the boring question, dc number 4 and my first time navigating allergies at nursery.

Would you expect to see a menu of food your child could actually eat before signing up to a nursery? I have asked repeatedly but been sent the regular menu, of which dc could eat 1 of 10 meals (!) and told the chef will adapt/ give an alternative. I would really like to see (an example of) what the alternative would be, but don’t seem to be getting anywhere with the nursery.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No. I wouldn't
The chef adapted the menu for our child on a daily basis.

Ok maybe I’m expecting too much. Thank you!

I think it depends. For example if its a dairy allergy and the normal menu is macaroni- is the adapted meal the same as everyone else using dairy free substitutes or are they going to be given a ham sandwich most of the time? I wouldn't necessarily expect to see a menu just for my child, however I would be asking for clarification on what they mean by alternatives.

Dairy is one of the allergies, but it is complicated by the fact she is also allergic to one of the alternatives (oats).

Will they give adapted versions of the main meal, or totally different options?

Most nurseries happily show a menu to prospective parents, because they recognise that a lot will want to know what their children will be eating. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be the same for parents of children with allergies. Especially as they are more likely to want to be reassured a) of the safety, and b) that their child isn’t going to just be given a jacket potato every single day

My oldest has a nut allergy ( now in college) so long time ago. But when he started nursery, someone from the allergy clinic was sent to the nursery. So they had a plan etc that went through menu what to do etc .
