Returning to work after seven years at home: full time or part time?

Has anyone been a sahp for a prolonged time and then decided to go back to work and regretted it or loved it?

I’ve been offered a full time job but have been stay at home for 7 years. I’d like to go back for the mental stimulation and to have something else but I think I’d miss being there so much for my kids and managing the logistics of it all will be stressful at first.

I know it will take a bit of getting used to but in the long term it might be best as the kids get older and eventually leave home.

anyone done this and it worked out or regretted it? Also is full time too much too fast, should I focus on part time roles if possible or just go right in at deep end? Trying to decide whether to take the offer or not. I do realise I’m in a lucky position.

I've never been a SAHP, so no experience, but if you've already been offered a FT role why don't you take it and see how you get on?

I went back after 5 years - kids top end of primary. I was 37 hrs per week BUT tomorrow time only - it was the school holidays that scuppered us originally.
2 years ago - both kids well established at secondary - i switched industry and am properly FT now.

Since you've got the offer, see how it goes - if your kids are too young to be left alone seriously look into school holidays before you are too committed.
