Has anyone had any expierence with this?

I have a 6 month old baby who has been referred to Paediatric Dermatology - he has required 2 courses of antibiotics and steroids due to the severity - letter back from Consultant states looks atopic and been appointed at clinic, yet to be seen.

I have just started weaning and came across this in a book, he has not had any allergens as yet. He has been eating veg and fruit so far, with oats, baby rice and also tried some chickpeas. No allergies so far. I am literally terrified to give him anything at all that could cause a reaction.

Has anyone had a baby with atopic excema and expierenced weaning and introduced allergens? Any help would be great. Thanks

The only ones I would be really worried about are egg and peanut and nuts. The others can make faces red a bit or vomit etc.

my baby had an egg allergy they outgrew by 1. But he did get seen by medics etc. for peanut butter for example you can smear a tiny bit on the outside of the lip and see what happens and then try half a teaspoon etc and then try a whole lot on toast so build it up.

but I’ve also heard of anxious mums giving it to babies in car parks just outside hospitals!!!

Thanks so much - I will probably be in the hospital car park administering my baby a bit of egg 🤣

If you are breastfeeding, that helps reduce the chance of an allergic reaction (on average, obviously there are reactive BF babies). It's also important to start introducing allergens, and if your baby is fine, KEEP giving them. There's some family history of allergies, so I used Biona mixed nut butter (once I knew the component nuts were ok) to give regular exposure via a teaspoon in porridge. It also makes the porridge more filling.

My son's allergy consultant advised egg baked into something before raw egg. He also HAD severe eczema and does have nut allergies but has outgrown one of them and the eczema since having Kefir (the proper quality stuff) daily, worth a try, eczema was gone within 4 days x

My dd has severe excema and was diagnosed with allergies to cmp , soya , eggs nuts sesame various fresh fruits and veg. She’s grown out of the dairy and egg ones but the rest will be lifelong.
Her skin was fairly clear by age 1- 2 as we knew what to avoid food wise
Have you tried wet wrapping at night ? You had my sympathy it was really tough
