My 10-year-old pushed his friend off a bike after arguing

My 10 year old son pushed his friend off his bike after he’d rammed his bike from behind. They’d been arguing and he admitted they’d been swearing. He said he never swears with any of his other friends. He and his friend usually are fine together (there’s a usual group of 3 of them) but since another boy ( who my son doesn’t like) has joined the group he said his friend has been different in front of him. He came home crying after it happened and tried to phone his friend to say sorry, couldn’t get through so text instead. We went to his nans house to check on his friend. He said sorry to his face. His nan looked at my son and said you were fighting yesterday with another boy weren’t you? (This was the boy he doesn’t like like, he’d tried to grab my sons bike to stop him riding it and my son had pushed him off, this lead to a tussle) When we got home my son burst into tears because he thought the nan was going to think he was a bad boy. Nothing like this has ever happened before. He knows he did wrong pushing his friend over.

I’d be trying to introduce him to some new friends. Sounds like this new boy has created a change in dynamic within the friendship group and your son is not responding well to it. It’s understandable and happens to adults too. He clearly knows he did the wrong thing and you responded well by getting him to apologise. But it sounds like he’s not the only one acting out and he shouldn’t have to be cast as the naughty one. I’d be organising play dates with other kids.

It is becoming a concern by me that this age group become physical and moody from the happy go lucly kids i saw last year.
Apparently its a testostrone boost and they behave in unfavoured ways.
He doesnt need to worry about what people think..or we would never get on with our lives.
He needs to do a decent spology and kesrn to walk away not react...easy said than done.
Make good choices kid for yourself..not.blaming or shaming each other is my theory.
