Do you ever 'get back to normal' post pregnancy/childbirth?

My DD is almost 21 months old. In recent months, I've noticed I'm incredibly low in mood and almost depressed when my period is due. I never felt like this pre pregnancy/childbirth so am assuming the shift in hormones are playing a part. They're quite intense feelings that I'm just not used to. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what helped? Did it improve over time?

I can't help with the does it go question, but just to give empathy as I have had the same. I get terribly anxious and depressed before my period also. It hit me particularly badly this past year which was 2-3 years post partum. It isn't any better yet, worse if anything.
I am still breastfeeding and also heading into my mid-40s so not sure if that is also playing a part.

@CherryPieToday You'd think by 2-3 years things would start to settle a little..I guess it shows how much it truly changes us. Hoping you find some peace!
