How would you deal with this?

I’ve recently split with the father of my 2 year old, will skip the long story of why I’m not with him but he’s abusive and I’ve finally had enough. Today was the first day he’s come to pick her up since we split the other day, he was quiet and I was polite telling him where our daughter said she’d like him to take her today and here’s her coat and her bag etc. when he was leaving with her he said ‘are we done’ I said ‘I’ve explained how I feel and told you where I’m at’ he said ‘tell me it’s done then’ I said yes it’s done I don’t see us coming back from this. He said in an angry disgusting tone of voice ‘you’re an idiot’ and then I said bye to my girl and he was walking out with her I heard him say to our daughter in an angry tone ‘stupid mummy’ this has really pissed me off because that’s not right and if I had said something like stupid daddy to her and he heard and called him an idiot he would’ve honestly probably punched me. I don’t want this abuse every time he comes to get her. I can’t talk to him because it’s like talking to a brick wall and he gets so nasty. What would you do?

If he is abusive, should he really have unsupervised access to your DC? Especially if he is angry, I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving him with her.

@crazymommaclub I do feel quite uncomfortable now that he’s got her for the day and was like that with me when he left, i’m absolutely dreading seeing him later when he drops her back. I have been thinking about getting in touch with professionals about him when this was the first time he’s picking her up and acts like that because if it continues it’ll be damaging to our daughter and I don’t deserve to be called names.

Would it be possible (at least in the short term) for him to collect DC from an intermediary (either mum, MIL etc), to avoid conflict in front of DC and to protect yourself. If you feel he is a danger though you absolutely must go to court to get sole custody.
