Extreme picky eating

Hello. I know this is a common theme. My 3.3 year old who was a good eater when he was a baby and up to 2 years has become a total nightmare recently with food. He has become extremely restrictive and meal times are really stressful. He seems to have appetite for sweets and fruit so I don’t know if it’s a sensory thing or he’s just being a pain.
We try to eat as a family at weekends but with work we can’t at weekdays but he’s just all round refusing and now refusing his lunch at nursery. He’ll then complain he’s hungry in the afternoon. I’m not sure how to really manage this and looking for some tips and success stories. It seems to be getting progressively worse.

Look and The Infant and Toddler Forum FB page. They used to have food factsheets for food refusers on their website that were excellent but I don’t think they’re online now.
Advice from Dr Gillian Harris or Dr Liz Shea is excellent on food refusal, though it’s rare to eat fruit for those they often work with. It’s often “ safe beige carbohydrates.”

Does he have cooked food at Nursery? You could try a lunchbox with compartments with things he will eat. If it is sensory he could be struggling with eating near others.

My 9 year old has become a very fussy eater , he won’t eat strawberries which he loves on because of the seeds , he won’t drink smoothies as he read made from concentrate! He lives on chocolate spread sandwiches or chicken burgers! He used to eat normally no idea what’s going on
