How can I stop my three-year-old greeting neighbours with rude words?

My three and a half year old enthusiastically greets our neighbors with "Hello, poops!"

I've tried everything I can think of to discourage this, I've talked to her, I taken away privileges.

Please help?

No wonder so many teens are completely ungovernable and parents don’t know why. Keep trying to tackle this OP, it’s not “kids being kids” they learn it from somewhere. Our job is to teach them right from wrong, too many are avoiding that while acting morally superior for not ever using screens. 🤔

Missing point completely but love the superior ‘a 3 year old shouldn’t have screen time’. 30 minutes won’t ruin them as long as it’s not the overstimulating rubbish on some channels (you tube Im looking at you!).

Just checking, are your neighbours of a different ethnicity to you? I.e. black or Asian by any chance? If so I would do my utmost to stamp this out and explain clearly why she shouldn’t be saying it.

I used to take my daughter to a weekly class where a younger sibling would call me and my daughter ‘poopy head’. I am black, my daughter is mixed race and the family were white. The mum used to shrug it off and claimed the child called everyone one ‘poopy head’ and it didn’t mean anything. This was not true and only my daughter and I received this treatment.
I eventually made a complaint to the event organizers who spoke to the mum. After a few weeks with no change the family stopped coming which was a relief as I was going to stop attending as I found it so humiliating.

Having a young child excluded from a group is nothing to celebrate. Why are you rejoicing in someone else's misery.

My friend’s 7 year old son shouted ‘poo fucker’ into my neighbour’s ring doorbell recently.. I had to write a note to apologise!

Are you are on good terms with the neighbours? If so I’d ask them to help you out by asking that if dd addresses them in this way they tell her “that’s a bit rude, if you want to talk to me please call me x” then, if she refuses to do so, don’t engage in further conversation.

I’d want to make absolutely sure she means ‘poops’ and isn’t trying for something more innocuous, as PPs have said.

My DS, at around the same age, would point at pictures of any fearsome looking dinosaur and shout “look! A CUNTasaurus!!!!” with excruciating emphasis on the first syllable. He meant carnotaurus 🤦🏼‍♀️

Oh Gods this reminds me, there was a random dinosaur cartoon on one of the cBBC shows that Dd2 loved but couldn’t pronounce and she always called it Cuntasaurus. She grew out of it and I had forgotten, all was well until we got a pet rabbit and he liked the tv on at night. Dd1 (then 14) walks past and casually announces to us, her Grandad and uncle very casually “I put cuntasaurus on for Xxx as he was scared” Luckily they fell about laughing.

Where did I say I was celebrating? I would have been much happier if the mum had taken it seriously when I spoke to her instead of dismissing me and basically telling me to ‘suck it up’. There was no apology just an ‘he does this to everyone’ and a ‘boys will be boys’ attitude. We were the only black family attending of about 12 families and the only people he called ‘poopy heads’.

She never attempted to correct him in front of me. I started to dread attending and being targeted and felt awful for my child who was being upset weekly by the name calling.

Would you have been happier if we had left and missed out instead, when we had done nothing wrong?
