Anyone else dealing with difficult behaviour before starting Reception on Monday?

And just being a total menace this weekend?

Went to the supermarket earlier and she was in a foul mood and tried to scratch and hit me throughout the shop.

On the journey home in the car she tried to hit me with a rubber pipe thing, I said 'if you hit me again, it's going out of the window'. She hit me again and I pretended to do just that (had no plans to actually litter out of a car window).

Screaming all the way home and i just picked up and put her in her bedroom. Attempts of pinching were made but I grabbed those fingers tight.

Give me strength guys.

I assume she's unsettled because she starts school on Monday and is nervous etc, doesn't help all her friends started on Thursday so she's the last one and doesn't know anyone going to her school but this behaviour is ridiculous. It took all of my strength not to blow.

Is anyone else dealing with this nonsense? Not sure if I can handle a Sunday of this too. Bring on 8:45 on Monday. 😖

Does she regularly behave like this @Thickasabrick89or do you think she may be unwell?

There’s a lot of change coming up. You are probably behaving differently. It’s been a long summer with probably a tiring holiday and lots of days out. Everyone is making a big deal about school and it’s all very emotionally overwhelming. Let her chill and do nothing this weekend or only what she asks to do. Make everything really low key until Monday.

Is this usual behaviour for her the hitting, pinching and scratching? I wouldn't think it's necessarily linked to her starting school to be honest it's quite extreme behaviour when she's not even started yet.

Yeah it's unusual for her definitely.

Yeah it's unusual for her definitely.

Usual advice if they’re like this and the behaviour is unusual is to try a dose of Calpol and aee of her demeanour improves. At 4 it’s very hard for them to be able to say that they are in pain or feel unwell and if it’s low level it can be hard to notice.
