Is a cold before Chicken pox a thing?

So my daughter was around her friend last week on friday, he came down with chickenpox the day after. Now 6 days later she has started with a snotty nose and sneezing, does this mean the pox is likely on its way. How long did your child have a cold if they got one before the spots began to show? I know it's a 7-21 day incubation period with the most likely day being day 14. But just wanted to know how long your child had a cold before spots appeared.

my two were a bit off colour and started with a dry cough. The day after the spots arrived. Incubation for my two was ten days

Chickenpox is spread by coughing as well as close contact, cold symptoms just before spots are common. However, lots of other bugs doing the rounds including HFMD.
