Conversation in the lift

I was in the Tube lift coming home, keen to see my kids after a long day at work. A pregnant woman and a fairly new mum to a one-year-old were having a very loud conversation.
Pregnant mum looking blissful with her bump, new mum talking ecstatically about motherhood:
“Becoming a mother is like becoming a member of a cult where your adorable baby is the cult leader.”
And she meant this as a good thing.
I stood there wondering whether modern parenting has finally lost the plot. This must be the apocalypse 😆

I mean, bleh, that sounds like something straight off #mumlife insta but I would say -

  1. if she’s happy with that then all power to her elbow, and

  2. cults often end in mass suicides. So she was either a bit of a silly goose who doesn’t understand what a cult is - or was being wildly ironic. There are days with my kids where I would happily drink the cool aid at Jonestown 😄

  1. imagine all these little cult leader becoming adults 😱
  2. she was blissfully serious, no irony there, just determination of raising a cult leader 😆

She was just joking, she doesn't literally mean she thinks of her baby as her spiritual leader.
Presumably happy having a family.

Presumably happy to raise a brat I presume.

Ah bless. The naïvity will wear off after a few days of broken nights, breast feeding and stinky nappies.

It might have even worn off prior to then - think aching back, swollen ankles and acid reflux.
