Constant rolling!

My baby rolls constantly. As soon as he is placed on his playmat, crib, changing table etc he will roll from his back onto his front into the tummy time position. He cannot roll the other way and gets tired and frustrated. When I then roll him back he will flip over straight again within a second or two. He’s 16 weeks but has rolled over from 8 weeks, the constant practice has been for about 3/4 weeks or so. It’s really disrupting his sleep as it’s like he cannot get comfortable. It’s so hard to play with him as he just flips over straight away then gets cross. He even tries to do it in his pram so I end up putting him in his car seat attachment which I know is not ideal. I am practicing helping him roll the other way but not much success yet. I will add he has silent reflux and is on omeprazole for it. He’s incredibly wriggly and squirmy so he doesn’t particularly enjoy being held either. Please someone tell me this is a phase and it will end…!

It’s definitely just a phase. He’ll be rolling back over before you know it. I’d leave him to get frustrated on is tummy so long as he isn’t really upset (just grizzling is fine) because that’s how he’ll learn to go back the other way. At home do you have bouncer he’d like to sit it? The baby bjorn one is fab. And I think him being in the car seat on the pram is fine if he’s just a bit too little for the seat- he isn’t a tiny newborn, he must have good head control if he can roll and I’m sure you’re taking him out regularly for feeds/cuddles/nappies.

My DS was the same. I actually think you need to let him practice more (even if he gets frustrated) and not strap him in. Lots and lots of tummy time and floor time.

Mine rolled side to side at 8 weeks and it totally ruined sleep. By 16 weeks, he was rolling all the way both ways and it actually massively improved his sleep so i think working on the skill will help you.
