Anyone else feel sad about their children growing up?

Does anyone else miss their children being little? I feel so sad that mine are growing up! I loved it when they were little, everyone says it gets easier and better when they are older but I preferred it when they were younger. Life definitely felt more simple back then. I know this is an unusual way to feel so does anyone else feel the same?

yes!! I get this is the aim and they need to be independent adults but I have massive waves of nostalgia and sadness for the time when they were little. I used to hate people telling me to make the most of it as it goes by so quickly, but now it has gone by so quickly! My aim is to make the most of the teenage years I have left with them while we are still a very close family unit.

I don't think it's an unusual way to feel at all. My youngest has just started school last week (Scotland) so I'm definitely feeling emotional about them growing up too fast. I just wish I could do those baby years all over again and take it all in a bit more 🙃

Ah I meant most people seem to be celebrating their kids getting older (teenagers), 4/5 that’s probably how old I wish mine were! 😭 they are teens

Mine are teens, I miss when they were younger. Now they never want to go anywhere or do anything. Use to love going all over and having adventures.

Nostalgic - absolutely. Sad, no. Being blunt, the alternative is them not growing up. As a parent of teens, please embrace the next stages and all the joy and challenges they bring. If you’re too busy being sad you risk missing out the wonderfulneas that is watching with pride as your children develop into marvellous beings
