Did switching between cloth and disposable nappies affect nappy rash?

We’ve tried changing more frequently and giving some nappy-free time, but I’m wondering whether switching between disposable and cloth nappies made any difference for other parents.

Bamboo disposables helped for us (Boots Little Stories), plus using water and cotton wool, followed by patting dry and then Vaseline (rigmarole!). How old is your little one?

Is your kid at nursery? It might be the lack of nappy changes during the day breaking down the skin. My LO never had nappy rash until he started nursery, I put it down to me being able to change the nappy quickly when he was at home with that 1:1 attention. I’m sure nursery didn’t wouldn’t notice for hours 😔

That's dreadful @Mayflower282. Most nurseries don't do that.

I don't think fabric would help because it will still keep them wet. However, it might get them potty trained which would help. My 16 month old can tell me he's wet in cloth so I change him fast and has actually started holding on until I get him on the pot. He can't talk but he can walk and lead me to the bathroom. He's nowhere near dry yet though, it's a work in progress.

Nope, never had any issues with nappy rash. We used cloth at home and sometimes used disposable for nursery.
