DD just not getting it with potty training

She is three and one month. Trained for wees with fairly minimal problems a few months ago now but poo remains an issue.

I know a lot of children are scared to poo in the potty / toilet but I don’t think this is the case; she has done successful ones. It’s as if she doesn’t properly recognise the sensation.

I just don’t know what else I can do to help her: the advice about blowing bubbles and sitting on the potty after a meal haven’t really worked and while I’m trying to stay calm and positive about it I am inwardly a bit frustrated with having to take changes of clothes and she always seems to have an accident at the worst moments as well!

I am also a bit worried about preschool next month: while I know some accidents are to be expected this feels more like ‘not properly potty trained’ than accidents as such as DD isn’t even trying to get to the toilet!

This was exactly my daughter this time last year and I was so worried about her going to preschool. We’d been potty training since June (when she turned 3) but it was so hit and miss.
I genuinely think preschool was the best thing for her- she had loads of accidents the first term. We kept her to half days the first term, but honestly by October she was great. My daughter wasn’t even trying to go the toilet either- she’d literally poo herself as she was running around the playground, it was mortifying because I had been trying at home for months!!!
The staff were amazing, I just took in loads of spares and honestly within the first term she was going to the toilet on her own

Yes, that’s what DD is like, she pooed at the top of a slide the other day 😩😩

I’d say just keep cracking on, but preschool could be the making of her. I honestly don’t know what they did that I couldn’t, but she suddenly just started realising she needed a poo, screaming ‘I NEED A POO!’ And running to the toilet. I’ve never been happier to see poo in a toilet!
