What financial support might a single parent be entitled to?

Hello, I’m not sure how this thread works. I was hoping to some advise. I got a mortgage two years ago and I recently thought I might be pregnant (I’m not) but it made me wonder what kind of support could I be entitled to if I was pregnant and raising my child alone? Has anyone else been in this situation? I’m worried about not being able to cover my bills. I won’t be able to be on maternity leave longer than 3 months. I’ve been employed with my current place of work for almost 8 years, but I’ve seen them make people redundant regardless of them being pregnant and they let a woman go while on her. maternity leave so if that happened what financial support could I temporarily be entitled to?

You'd get maternity allowance if you were made redundant and had made enough NI contributions within the qualifying period (you would have done, in the context you describe). That's what I get. It's just under 400 pounds every two weeks. You'd also get child benefit. And, of course, you get several months to panic and get your ducks in a row! You could also talk to your mortgate company about options, and you may be able to take out loans.
