Chickenpox? Or just a viral rash?

Hopefully the pictures are clear enough to see.

Red spots that are raised. Appeared overnight Tuesday night. Was only 6-7 spots and assumed midge bites. Now around 15 in total. 2 near armpit, all the rest on arms and legs. No change in them at all since they appeared but a few more have appeared.

Child not poorly at all. No itching at all.

Had a very similar situation almost exactly a year ago but only 6 spots total and they stayed the same then disappeared after 5 days 🤔🤔 they didn’t progress the way typical CP does. But it was going all round nursery at the time.

They don’t obviously look like chickenpox and usually chickenpox initially appears on the torso before spreading. My money would be on bites, but see how they look tomorrow. If chickenpox, they should form pustules pretty quickly.

@mindutopia Yeah I was unsure just with them being red and raised and clear individual spots 🤔 But we’re now almost 48 hours in and they haven’t changed at all and there are no other symptoms 🤔
I don’t want to be sending DC around other kids and spreading anything but also don’t want to be keeping DC off for no reason!

I think the spots would normally have formed the distinctive blister by now. I think with DD it was only about 12 - 24 hours before the spots had blisters and then after that the rather grim scabs.

Your child’s spots don't seem to be progressing like that.

@Lindy2 thank you - that’s the same kind of timeline I got when I was googling it so that’s what made me unsure if it could be that or not.

As I said, I assumed bites but they have doubled in number over the last 24 hours while DC has been in various locations so no idea what they’d be bites from 🫠🤔. Maybe just a random viral rash 🤞🏼
