Does anyone else feel sad when the children go back to school?

Am I the only one sad when kids return to school ? My oldest ( now in his 20s ) was home educated he was autistic and no setting was good so was the best for him and honestly I don’t think he would even know how to read if I left him in the suggested educational setting at the time . it was really hard work as I worked too but worth it .
My youngest kids go to nursery and primary and it breaks my heart to very time school starts because the freedom stops for them and for us and because the education they have is so basic . Both are very intelligent and started reading at 3 so I almost feel they wast their capacity at school .
Am I the only one feeling this way ?

YANBU- the Summer is utter bliss for us. I’m a housewife, my DH is a teacher, we absolutely love being together with our 2 young children over the 6 weeks. We hate the usual rushing out of the house in the morning, breakfast being too early, we love eating together when everyone is actually hungry. We spend loads of time outdoors, playing games, reading, having interesting conversations. We are extremely anti-rush and love depth and quality to our days and time. It’s heaven!

Yes! I hate it; feel like I used to when I was the one going back to school. And mine are teens now. Goodness knows what I’ll be like when they’re not going back to school…..🤣

Yes and no I suppose! But DD1 only goes four days at school, she’s at home for flexischooling on the fifth, which adds a bit of balance.

I love doing stuff with her though, and I hate rushing in mornings. I remember once school had a delayed opening till 10am and it was perfect, we had such a nice relaxed morning and I thought at the time how much better it would be for our lives to start that hour later.

Yes, I hate it. I haven’t set an alarm in weeks, my youngest is so happy having his sister around, I love having her around all the time. She loves school and will be very happy going back but we all need the break.

I can’t wait, honestly. I do love them dearly but every single day without respite for six weeks is a LOT!

I'll miss the summer holidays when they're back at school! 😂

Absolutely not. I love my kids dearly and I have loved spending time with them and not rushing/doing the school run but fuck me the arguing!!!! I can’t wait for schools to reopen. Eldest back next week, youngest the week after.

Yes! I love spending time with my 5 year old. I feel I miss out on so much of his world when he's at school all day, 5 days a week.

However, my husband and I are both term time only so we are very lucky in that holidays are enjoyable and long, we both get lots of time to do our own thing and also lots of time, the 3 of us together.

I could never home educate however much I miss my child. The responsibility is far too much for me and I know being at a social setting in school is good for him.

Yes. But I'm the teacher 😂.
I did as a parent too!
