Feeling like a rubbish mum…

Having separated from my children’s dad almost 9 months ago now, I’m finding that it’s appears that they have great fun with him when he has them but comes back to me with bad moods, tantrums and fighting with each other. And yes I’ve heard all the “it’s because you are there safe space” talk. But I don’t feel like the safe space. I feel like the emotional dumpster bin.

i absolutely regret settling with their dad and having kids with him. And in all honesty I regret having children. (Yes I know that’s terrible to say) but it just feels like a constant battle everyday. The relationship left my nervous system in a wreck ( too much stress leading to health issues) and it’s like being around the kids makes me feel the same way.

I don’t know how to feel more positive or how to want to continue trying …any help or advice please.

What do you do OP, when the kids are with their dad? It sounds like you need to find yourself away from the role of just being mum (which so often is an emotional dumping ground unfortunately). Do you have hobbies, socialise, pursue any studies, interests etc.

Edited to say if you are concerned about being a 'rubbish mum' you are probably a great mum for caring.
