My eldest turned 10 in april, still has two years at primary school im really anxious about letting him walk himself to school, the remainder of his time at primary school I will be walking with him so will know he will be getting to school safe (i need to walk his much younger brother). However I do want to try give him some independence before he goes to high school (let's face it he's not going to want his mum walk him to high school) I dont know what the right approach is. Hes really quite shy and nervous child so im definitely going to need to help him build confidence in this time as well. I was thinking of maybe sending him to some sort of martial art.
So far I've began to let him leave the school grounds and meet me less than a minutes walk from it as he comes out one way and his brother comes out the other.
So really what im asking is how to give him more independence, boost his confidence and reduce my anxiety of letting go a little.
