Newborns and heatwaves SUCK

4 week old baby.

Only sleeps with contact. Often won't be put down even for a second without losing her mind.

Have been trying to nurse and rock her for TWO HOURS.

I know the carrier works, but it's 33° I don't want to wear it!!! Once it's on I'll be ridiculously hot and won't be able to sit down or stop moving at all or she'll wake up.

It's not my first baby, I have two other children. One is at a camp today and I was so looking forward to time with the older one. We weren't going to attempt much (anticipating screaming), just some board games and time together. But he's escaped to his room because the screaming is too much.

This is horrible.

I wish I'd had all my babies in the winter. Pregnant in the cold months, baby wearing in the cold months, noone wants to visit you as everyone is hibernating, there's nothing on so no fomo, don't feel like you're missing days at the beach and camping trips and time outside. I don't even want to take this child into the garden because we live in a sleepy neighborhood and honestly who wants to hear that racket?! I don't want to spend all my time indoors, but outside is boiling and then you also have the issue of having to avoid the sun. There's not much shade near me.

She screams in the car, screams in the buggy.

I am aware 'everything is a phase' but BLEUGH!

Feeling very bleak.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Gave in and donned the carrier. Somehow the screaming has actually intensified.

I didn't know a small human could make so much noise tbh. I don't remember it being like it last time 😅🫣

She's screamed herself to sleep in the carrier.

Let the sweat off begin!!

I could have written this, I have a May born child. That first summer is awful but just think we are at the end of summer now. next years will be much better.

My DS was born between heatwaves a few years ago. It was hard but I just dressed him really light and used fans and portable aircon. He also only contact napped as he had reflux so needed to be upright! Could you take the kids to somewhere with aircon and baby wear there? Even just a supermarket or a cafe?

I have a sweaty 11 month old who is only wanting to be in my arms at the moment.

A thin muslin between you and their skin can help reduce the sweating.
