What’s best to use for this?

Nail file or biting them yourself

hopspot · 10/08/2026 11:02

Bite them

ThatMintMember · 10/08/2026 11:08

I liked the Tommee Tippee nail clippers. They're a good size for a baby and have stayed nice and sharp. Used them from the start until now (DS is 4 now).

Beware of clippers. I cut a bit off the end of DDs finger cos she moved! But it regrew .... phew!

Undercoverpepsicola · 10/08/2026 11:59

I’ve never got on with filing their nails. I’ve just cut them while they slept for both of mine.

Wouldyoufarkinbelieveit · 10/08/2026 14:16

Biting them? wtf?

baby nail scissors OP

Baby nail scissors. Careful with clippers as you have less control - the end of the fingers is very vascularized so it will bleed A LOT if you cut it (my friend did this and it looked horrible)

hannah2034 · 10/08/2026 19:55

Okay I’m gonna get some baby nail scissors and cut them while she sleeps, wish me luck! Really hope I don’t cut her finger 😬

Just take your time and you'll be fine :) the only time I've thought i might have gone too short is when I was rushing!

hannah2034 · 10/08/2026 21:05

Thanks for the support! I did them and no finger cuts! Used the tommee tippee scissors and they were ideal 👌🏻

👏🏻 I find it almost impossible to go too short with the scissors. I still use the baby ones on my 5 year old. Clippers are very easy to snip skin with.

FrankieNeverRelax · 10/08/2026 22:08

Honestly I found scissors easiest when they are asleep of feeding

hopspot · 11/08/2026 07:34

Biting is much easier than scissors which can slip. Try it.
