What does everyone do for their summer holidays?

I need to drastically change our family summer holiday. Were a family of 5. DD1 7, DSS 7, DD2 2.

I can’t do a hotel again. For a family of 5 it’s extremely stressful for me. Im neurodivergent, high functioning, but I get extremely overwhelmed by people, new environments, things that aren’t organised or clean. I feel completely out of sorts every year and I can’t do it again.

Hotels simply don’t cater to families of 5 in a comfortable way. Everyone is on top of each other.

The half-board/all inclusive dining absolutely stresses me out also. Its like a cattle market.

My kids love the swimming pool, beach, water parks and I love the same.

Id love to add a bit more variety into the mix.

If we go abroad again I think im gonna do an airbnb or villa… or does anyone have any hidden gems they would recommend?

Locations, villas, resorts, camp sites etc?

We go camping or an Airbnb when in the UK and usually Airbnb when in Europe. I think it works out much cheaper as I have no desire for a resort or an AI buffet and I don’t drink. It’s easy to find a holiday flat with 3 bedrooms. We had one 1 block from the sea with a garden and balcony in Valencia for £80 a night. We usually have breakfast and dinner self catered from the supermarket and eat lunch out or switch it around and pack a picnic lunch and go out for dinner and ice cream. I see people spending £3-4k on a holiday and I’ve never spent anything close to that except when we went to San Francisco for 2 weeks!
