Baby sleep sack poppers?

Currently using 0-6 month sleep sacks for my 8 week old baby - the kind with poppers that fasten over the shoulders and additional poppers under each armpit. I’ve noticed recently when doing up the under arm poppers that this makes the sleep sack very tight & restrictive across his chest.

Was considering just leaving the under armpit poppers open to add more room.
Does anyone know if the under armpit poppers are meant to be fastened or is this more designed for very small babies to make it fit better? Is there any risk or issue with not fastening them?

Buying the next size up won’t work as then the head hole is likely to be too big.

Any thoughts appreciated!

What sleep sack is it? If it’s a grosnuggle or similar the poppers are used to swaddle the arms in, and if you want to use it as a regular sleep sack with the arms free you leave them undone.
