Ex changing childcare arrangements unpredictably after years of inconsistent contact

Hello
This is a custody one. Ex does shifts and of course his job is super important. After years of messing he decided to do 2 weeknights a week and 1 weekend a month. However recently he's started doing weird shit ie 3 Saturdays a month and erratic staying over etc. This was the man who barely saw his dc for 3 years. Its not a decent schedule. We've never had consistency. My ex is a spiteful piece of work so I wonder whether this is all tied in. God forgive me but I would have stayed child free if I knew itd be like this.

He doesn’t get to call the shots you know, he just thinks he does. Think about what works for you and the kids and tell him this is what is happening. If he doesn’t like it he can take you to Court (it is highly unlikely he will bother). This kind of shit is what men do in order to feel like they still have control. Screw that.

Is this about consistency for the children, arranging childcare for your work, etc? What are the approximate ages? Is he seeing them more now or less than before?

Is the new "arrangement" designed to interfere with CMS?

1 child. 8. Seeing him more than he was but still adhoc ie he'll do no weekends for 6 weeks then do 2 weekend back to back. Alot of messing and hassle.
