Advice for grandson

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.
My grandson is 3 years old and has lived with my husband and me since he was just 8 weeks old under a residence order. He’s settled, happy, and we love him more than words can say.
His mum is now pregnant again, and as things stand, the new baby will be living with her. I’m really worried about how to explain this to my grandson in a way that’s honest but doesn’t make him feel rejected or like he wasn’t wanted.
I know he’s still very young, but I also know children understand more than we sometimes think. I’m concerned that as he gets older, he’ll wonder, “Why does my new baby brother or sister get to live with Mum when I don’t?”
Has anyone had to have this conversation with a young child? When did you start talking about it, and what words did you use? Are there things I should avoid saying? I’d really appreciate advice from kinship carers, foster carers, grandparents, or anyone who has been through something similar.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm afraid I don't have any advice OP but I wanted to say how much I admire you and your DH for stepping up for your grandson x

Seek professional help like play therapy if he begins to ask.
See if you can speak to a child psychologist fir strategies maybe via gp ?

Very similar situation here, I raised my first grandson because my daughter was only 17 when he was born. We now have another little grandson who is six months old. We have just explained that everyone loves him; his life won’t change and his little brother is just his little brother: Nothing more. All seems good at the moment :)
