He was ill last week with an ear infection. Trip to the docs and a quick course of abs cleared it right up and he is healthy and fab again.

Ever since, he has been to the loo a couple of times, but mostly, he shouts "I'm doing a wee wee!!!!" as he is weeing.

If his sister falls out with him, he wees, if he is upset, he wees, if he wants a wee, he wees.

Do you think that this is connected to him being ill last week?

I don't want to go back to potties and stuff, but equally, I don't want him being upset about having "accidents".

Have never had any problems with him since he was tolet trained, this is the boy who woke up from a nap in the car at the beginning of a massive traffic jam, wanting a wee but managed to hold it in for over an hour until I could stop, so I know that the control is there, just not this last week.

He's almost three, btw.

does he get upset about having accidents?

have you asked him why he keeps weeing on the floor?

tbh at 3 I'm amazed at how good he's been up until now.

he doesn't seem to be getting upset, he seems surprised by it if anything.

We have talked about it, and he says that he will go to the toilet next time (he doesn't say sorry or seem to think he has done anything "wrong") and we have cuddles so he doesn't think he is naughty, and all is well... till the next time.

I'm guessing there is no infection, because he had abs for the ear infection, so if there was anything there, then the abs would have sorted that out as well.

He's only been off the abs since Tuesday

i'd be inclined to say its that good old "he's going through a phase".

he's probably got to a mental stage that is taking all his attention away from bodily functions. as long as he's not getting upset with it i would ride with it and not put him back in nappies as he may see that as a "punishment" or trying to make him back into a baby. its only been a week.

but feel free to ignore me, i'm only on day 2 of training my DS and he's almost 3!!!!

fryalot · 26/06/2008 17:07

I kind of hoped someone would say that

I just worried in case there was something that I really should know about but didn't.

I agree that putting him back in nappies would be wrong

Thank you.

they do this

orangina · 26/06/2008 17:39

not all antibiotics cure urinary infections, so just because he had the abs for his ears, doesn't mean that they would have had an effect on a UTI...

if he's still doing it in a week or so, it might be worth sending a sample in though....

fryalot · 26/06/2008 18:37

thank you.

So, chicken, tis not connected?

I'll see how we get on over the next week or so.

ta muchly
