Did your husband change his mind about having a third child?

Has anyone had a husband that said no to a 3rd child...had time to think...and then changed their mind?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes!

2.5 yrs between DC1 and dc2… then 7 yrs to dc3. It took me that time to win him round! She’s an absolute belter! 🥰

This is positive to hear...all I get told is to just be happy with what I've got!!

What won him round?!

My husband is more concerned about financial reasons but I know we would be okay. We are currently looking at 4 bed houses anyway but cars would be an expense of course. We have 2 children ages 3 and 5 so he did mention age gap as we liked having ours close in age but it doesn't bother me as much as it does him.

He has asked for time to think...well he said give me until the end of the summer. I am 95% sure he will turn around and say its still a no!

Yes. And now we have 4.

I really don’t think a decision as momentous as having a child should be something you think you can talk him into. Absolutely not fair to have a child unless both parents are 100% in agreement. 2 is plenty.

Yes!

underthehawthorntree · 28/07/2026 21:04

Yes mine did.

I wanted him to be 100% on board so it took a bit of time and persuasion but we have the third child and he's a joy.

Funnybanana · 28/07/2026 21:04

Yes! Although I suspect he was never really against the idea.

Different story trying to get him on board with a fourth!

Yes! Some random man in the pub said to him, if you think you’re going to end up changing your mind you should do it sooner rather than later (as we’d be getting further away from the baby phase with DS1 and DS2). We ended up with a little girl (not my reason for wanting another but a nice surprise) and she’s a delight.
