Hall party ideas for 8/7 yo

Hello! I feel I am all out of party ideas for my soon-to-be 8DD. We are still firmly in the all-class party era and everything more exciting than a church hall is so expensive for 20-30 kids or aimed at much smaller groups. So what, apart from a bouncy castle, have you done in a church hall that isn’t loads of work to manage and that would keep this age group engaged?! Any creative ideas?

Silent disco? Seems to be the go to by the PTA at my local primary for kids events.

The chocolate game.
Musical statues/bumps.
Pass the parcel

Balloons are a must, they can blast them at each other and no-one gets hurt 😂

Various entertainer parties. We had a dance party run by a local street dance club, a chocolate party where they made chocolates and played chocolate based games, a general “party games” party with 2 very energetic hosts (no way could I have done it!)

Whereabouts are you?

Break the chain and do something with just a few close friends!! Someone has to do it and the start of a new school year is the perfect time for it.

Ha I really do need to break the chain, but so far it’s become impossible to whittle down the list and not just leave out a handful of kids! I am south east London just outside the M25. Love the idea of silent disco or investigating some of the more creative entertainers locally… feels like a tricky age but most of them will still be 7

I’d get a bouncy slide rather than castle (less chance of bumping heads/climbing the sides).

someone did circus skills in y3 in a hall (not the whole class) which was nice.

If you’re up for throwing money at it then Sharky & George are good for this age and can offer lots of party formats ( eg spy party, disco, science party), … though suspect they may have got even more pricey in the years since we used them. Worth a browse for ideas though.

I remember kids going to lots of art based parties around this age, local art classes/holiday clubs often offer these

Depends on your child’s interests really?

Is this for a September born child? If so, I would start the trend in a new school year for a smaller party!

Gymnastics? Cinema? Bowling?
