2.5 YEARL OLD SEPARATION ANXIETY AT BEDTIME

Would appreciate any help.
We started potty training our 2 and a half year old twin girls this week. Since this started, one of our girls has been suffering massive separation anxiety when it comes to bed time.
We are managing to now keep her in her cot, we are reading stories to both of them and giving lots of reassurance. But bed time is becoming a nightmare and is taking a really long time to get our anxious little one off to sleep.
Then in the middle of the night, our daughter will wake up and we’re talking over an hour before she settles again.
Please help, any tips would be massively appreciated.
Thanks!

Ditch the cot and put her to sleep on a single bed mattress on the floor. A cot is a prison to a toddler. She may well be a lot happier knowing she has the ability to go and see you if she wakes up frightened ( or indeed wants to use her potty!) Children differ. My son was OK in a cot but my daughter refused point blank from the off! She slept on a single mattress on the floor. No problems.

mines been in a bed since 12 months, cant even imagine keeping a toddler in a cot! A bed is so much easier, you can sit / lie with them at bedtime. If they still nap, stop that or keep it really short.
